Wrens Mum is here

Well today has been all go, we meet up with Karen at the bus stop at about 11.00am this morning, and after a quick refresh she was ready for action. So a trip to Harajuku to check out all the new humanbeings and get some lunch was in order. Karen is still a bit like I was on the first day and its all a bit mad for her. Anyway after a good bit of pasta (japans latest food fad) it was off to Ropongi to visit the Mori building in roppongi hills and the 54th floor Gallery and viewing area.
The fastest lift in the world so they claim took us to the floor and the whole place was pretty cool. After a look round the exhibitions we watched the lights of tokyo slowy turn on from 300m up.
By this time the jet lag was starting to set in for Karen so we went to an old school tempura resturant for some tea. Its was sitting on the floor style which was lucky cos I may have fell from a chair due to the hot saki that wrens mum made me drink. Anyway prefect ending to a cool trip, and just an early start for a long day to look forward too.
Saki hasnt worn off yet、cheeks very red, going to lick the window of your room to cool down.

Did the earth move for you!!!!!

In a strange way I was hoping for an earthquake whilst we were in Japan and I am happy to report as with all my hopes for this trip japan provided.

At about 7.30 this morning the whole building was really shaking, infact it even made the bathroom squeak! Anyway like most good things it was all over in about 45 secs. However it was still a little worrying on the 14th floor.

Anyway just a bit of shopping and the like today, we went to the Nikon gallery on the 25th floor of a building near here, great view and some expensive looking cameras but the gallery was having the pictures changed. Also rocked down to electric avenue to pick up an Ipod, went for a mini in the end for reasons I will be happy to explain to anyone who is interested, a 4gb was 100 quid, dont really know how much of a bargin that is but it seemed a shame not to invest in some tech whilst here.

Thats it really so far, going back to my room for round 3 of brown apple splatters.

See No Evil

Been to a whole load of old temples today in Nikko. Saw the 3 monkeys and the sleeping catplus ate some large white balls [of tofu]. Plenty of train travel on the old shinkansen so we are getting our moneys worth out of the train pass. Just off out for a bit of tempura now in shinjuku.

Even sunday is busy in Tokyo at 7.30 this morning when we got the train the statioon was packed like rush hour. In the park yesterday I would say there were at least 200,000 people hanging out looking at the cherry blossom, it was like glastonbury without the shitty toilets.
On the way back from Nikko I would say the tokyo circle line was as busy as a very busy rush hour in london. Good job everyone is so small!!!! and polite.

Turning Japense

Well its about 11.30pm here and we just got back from a tiny island called Miya Jima which is just off the coast of hiroshima. We took the Shinkansen [bullet] train to Hiroshima and then a little tram and ferry to the island. It was pretty touristy during the day but we stayed the night in a little hotel and it was very cool. A crazy lady looked after us and feed us lots of raw fish and rice. Then when we woke up she came into our room and feed us more raw fish and rice.

Anyway today we went up the top of the mountain and hung with the monkeys and dear. Then a short trip to see where the A bomb went off and visit the A bomb dome and a train back to tokyo. Thats about it for the diary of events.

A day round tokyo tomorrow and no raw fish for a couple of days as I am on overload.

Anyway
Good Stuff
Japanese
Bullet train
Pachinko
Raw fish
Little boxes of food sold on railway platforms
Friendly drunk guys on the Tokyo underground
Vending machine ice cream
Dear
Monkeys

Bad stuff
Too much raw fish
Not enough time
No innocent smoothies

Motorbikes and Cherryblossom

Well its all been going down today.

First a trip to the electric street to look at cheap MP3s and sexy dvds of willy being kissed (thanks glc).
Then a trip to Ueno jap motorcycle shop capital lots of cool bikes especially the zoomers (u were right m rose they are very cool)
Then Ueno park for a stroll in the cherry blossom all very nice.

Well thats it time up on the machine.

TokyoTokyoTokyo

Well here I am in Tokyo trying to type on a really wierd keyboard.

What can I say everything is different, I have walked so far today that my feet will probably fall off tonight. We are really staring to get the hang off stuff here now and today have visited some really cool stuff. I am particulary taken with the aray of old skool Jap bikes, most off which seem to have hand made swing arms and KandN filters as standard.

Had some good tempura for lunch (did not go to much on the octopus though) and had a coffee in the starbucks where they secretly filmed the road crossing scence in Lost in Translation. I can see why bill murray felt so out of place.

Thats it for now more later.
